The retreat is situated in the picturesque Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh, a small village in a tiny valley surrounded by the awe-inspiring Himalayas.
The program will include the following activities: Asanas (yogic postures or exercises), Breathing exercises, Meditation, dance workshop (optional), personalised lifestyle coaching (optional), Yoga, advice on nutrition and diet.
Location: Our yoga retreat in India is located in a traditional Himalayan village, situated in a small valley. Humans, animals and plants live in harmonious co-existence in the midst of a perfectly preserved, unspoilt eco-system. The yoga holiday will be held in spring and autumn, when nature is at its best and the trees and plants sprouting and flowering in abundance. It is the perfect place for reflection and relaxation.
Yoga Teacher Ganga is teaching on the Himalayan retreat in April 2012. Ganga has been the spiritual director and master teacher of the "Ananda Dhiira" yoga and wellness centre in California, USA, and has taught Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga (Rajadhiraja yoga), Dynamic Vinyasa flow and Sivananda yoga in India, Germany, Croatia and the US in workshops and on retreats since 1989. Nowadays she teaches yoga classes in London and on international retreats. Her teaching style emphasizes yogic breathing and relaxation as the doorway into flexibility and deepening of the yoga poses. She teaches pranayama, yoga nidra and asana as a deep psycho-physiological complementary practice, which builds the fundament for a profound and authentic spiritual enquiry. Ganga is certified at the highest level with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500).
Schedule for the 10-day program: There will be a twice daily yoga practice. Ashtanga (Rajadhiraja form) in the morning and an afternoon workshop that focuses on different aspects of Hatha-variations, dynamic vinyasa flow, asana technique, restorative, pranayama, relaxation and yoga nidra, meditation and satsang. We'll serve tea and fruit from 07.15 and morning practice will start at 07.30 and run until 10.00. Brunch will be served at 10.15 and there will be tea and a snack at 1.30. Evening practice will be from 16.30 to 18.30, followed by dinner at 18.45.
Other things to do: Apart from twice daily yoga classes, guests can visit the local village, go for walks or simply relax; tranquillity will find you here.
Accommodation : The rooms are simple, clean and spacious with large windows offering plenty of light and fresh air.
Meals: The scrumptious vegetarian lunch and dinner are served buffet style with a stunning view of the Western Himalayas. At all times guests are welcome to a wide range of teas. The vegetarian food will be nutritious and delicious, offering a taste of the Indian local cuisine.
